About us

Ian Engberg’s story is essentially that of a boy and his one true, life-long love – woodworking. Earning pay stubs from the age of 6, Ian worked for his father, Danish architect and master cabinetmaker Jan Engberg who was a product of the European apprenticeship tradition. During the decade and a half under of his father’s tutelage renovating brownstones and designing furniture in New York City, Ian soaked up nearly every aspect of the business, eventually serving as site foreman and project manager. By his early 20s, he branched out on his own, blending traditional craftsmanship learned from his father with his own innate passion for finely crafted original furniture designs, millwork and cabinetry. 17 years later Ian remains as hands-on as ever as the driving force behind one of the industry’s best-kept secrets.
